On Monday morning, a major police investigation into suspected money laundering led to the dawn arrest of a man and a woman.
Officers from the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU) conducted simultaneous raids at three separate addresses in the Eccles area of Salford.
A 37-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were apprehended on suspicion of money laundering, with cash and electronic devices being seized during the searches.
Social media reports indicated that a property in Monton was also raided, where Tactical Aid Unit officers and scenes of crime investigators were present.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) assisted in the operation.
In a statement, the NWROCU confirmed: "This morning (Monday, 12 May), officers executed a series of coordinated warrants across Manchester as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected money laundering activities.".
The statement continued, "Search warrants were executed at three separate addresses in the Manchester area. As a result, a 37-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, both from Eccles, Salford, were arrested on suspicion of money laundering."
During the searches, officers seized several digital devices, cash, and financial documents, which will undergo forensic examination as part of the investigation.
The suspects, whose identities have not been disclosed, remained in police custody for questioning on Monday afternoon, with no further details available at this time.
