A woman, aged 26, was hospitalized with serious injuries after being stabbed by a man she knew. The incident occurred on Monday, February 10, at approximately 2:30 PM on Ince Green Lane in Ince, Wigan.
Greater Manchester Police responded to reports of the stabbing. Following the attack, the woman suffered serious injuries; however, her condition is not currently considered life-threatening or life-changing, according to GMP Wigan in a statement released on Tuesday morning.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody for questioning.
Authorities believe the incident was isolated, and police are working to reassure the public in Wigan following the event. A spokesperson for the force stated, "The individuals involved were known to each other, and we believe that this was an isolated incident. There is no risk to the wider public."
