Wigan Car Fire Incident - December 12 Arson Case

In the early hours of December 12, emergency services responded to a car that was reportedly set on fire outside a home in Wigan. Police and firefighters were dispatched to Church Street, Ince, shortly after 12:35 AM.

Footage from the scene captured flames erupting from the car, which was parked in front of a property. A small explosion was visible as the fire raged.

Smoke billowed from the vehicle as firefighters worked for about an hour to bring the blaze under control. The Manchester Evening News reports that the incident is being treated as a case of arson.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service stated, "Shortly after 12:35 AM this morning (Thursday, December 12), one fire engine from Hindley Community Fire Station was called to attend a fire involving two vehicles on Church Street, Wigan. Our crew arrived quickly and used one hose reel and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire."

They added, "Firefighters worked alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe before departing after approximately one hour at the scene.” Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for additional information.
