Warrington Pub Assault Incident - Victor Jeffries Arrested

On Saturday, December 7, at approximately 3pm, police responded to a call concerning an aggressive man assaulting staff at a pub in Horsemarket Street, Warrington.

The suspect, Victor Jeffries, 64, of Orange Grove, was reported to be throwing punches and kicking at pub employees when officers arrived.

During the confrontation, Jeffries escalated the situation by brandishing a knife at the police officers. Fortunately, they were able to disarm him and place him under arrest.

While being transported to custody, Jeffries attempted to headbutt an officer, further highlighting his aggressive behavior.

Jeffries faced multiple charges, including assaulting an emergency worker, public order offenses, and making threats with a bladed article. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 months in prison at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 9.

Chief Inspector Neil Drum from Warrington Local Policing Unit commented, “Jeffries’ actions were utterly unacceptable and caused immense distress, fear, and alarm within the community. Officers regularly put their lives at risk to protect the public and should not have to face such violence.”

Drum added, “Jeffries could have caused significant harm to both officers and the public. This outcome shows that such behavior will not be tolerated in our town.”
