The family of Olivia Pratt-Korbel arrived at Manchester Crown Court as the trial of Thomas Cashman begins. Cashman is accused of murdering nine-year-old Olivia following a shooting at her home.
Cheryl Korbel, Olivia's mother, was present in court with other family members, including Olivia's siblings, Chloe and Ryan, and her father, John Francis Pratt. The incident occurred at the family's residence on Kingsheath Avenue in Dovecot, Liverpool, on August 22 last year.
According to reports, Cashman has pleaded not guilty to murdering Olivia and wounding her mother, Cheryl. He also denies the attempted murder of Joseph Nee and faces charges of possessing firearms with intent to endanger life.
Cashman, escorted by armed police, will face a jury with a trial scheduled to last four weeks. David McLachlan KC leads the prosecution, while Professor John Cooper KC represents Cashman.
