A father, Denis Beytula, was deemed one of the 'worst' killers by a detective after he brutally murdered his three-week-old son out of jealousy.

Beytula, envious of the attention his son Andrei received from his mother, attacked both Andrei in his cot and his partner, Andreea Stefan, in a frenzied spree.

Years after the horrifying incident, our colleagues at Chronicle Live revisited the case to recount the events and their long-term impact.

In October 2019, following a dispute over Andreea's hair appointment, Beytula attacked, fatally wounding his son Andrei and severely injuring Andreea. Andrei succumbed to his injuries four days later in the hospital.

Beytula pleaded guilty to murder and attempted murder and was sentenced to life in prison. This tragic case highlighted his extreme jealousy and control, hidden behind a facade of a caring partner.

Despite appearing as a loving dad-to-be, Beytula harbored deep-seated jealousy and malicious intent towards his family. His actions culminated in a tragic loss, forever changing the lives of those around him.

The fateful day saw Beytula, in a violent rage, stab Andrei and Andreea before calling emergency services, showing no remorse. His chilling confession highlights his disturbing mindset.

Detective Inspector Graeme Dodds described Beytula as the worst individual he had encountered, citing the heinous nature of his crime against an innocent infant.

Andreea, reflecting on her relationship, recognized Beytula's manipulation and control, understanding now that his actions stemmed from a twisted sense of possession rather than love.

Saying, "He made me believe no one else could be a father to our son, manipulating me under the guise of love. True love doesn’t seek control, it doesn’t threaten, and it certainly doesn’t kill babies."
