On August 22, nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel was tragically shot in her home in Dovecot, Liverpool. The accused, Thomas Cashman, 34, allegedly fired the gun while pursuing Joseph Nee, a convicted drug dealer.
Olivia's mother, Cheryl Korbel, was also injured in the incident. Cashman stands accused of murder but denies involvement.
Today, March 29, jurors at the Manchester Crown Court began deliberations, three-and-a-half weeks after the trial opened. Judge Mrs Justice Yip emphasized the gravity of their task, acknowledging the high-profile nature of the case.
Cashman, described as a 'high-level' cannabis dealer, refutes claims that he targeted Nee on the day of Olivia's death. He asserts he was elsewhere during the shooting, while a scorned witness alleges otherwise.
The court heard that Cashman, a resident of Grenadier Drive, West Derby, Liverpool, denies all charges, including Olivia's murder, attempted murder of Nee, and related firearm offenses.
