On Monday, February 3, a 15-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after being stabbed at All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield.
The incident occurred at 12:17pm, prompting a temporary lockdown of the school located on Granville Road.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were dispatched to assist the injured boy, who is currently receiving treatment in hospital. A teenager has been arrested and is in custody, according to South Yorkshire Police.
A police spokesperson advised the public to avoid the area and reassured parents that there is no further risk to students. They stated: "Following a stabbing at a school in Sheffield, a teenage boy has been detained by police and our officers are on scene."
The spokesperson further confirmed: "At 12:17pm today, we received reports of a stabbing at All Saints Catholic High School. Headteacher Sean Pender informed parents and guardians of the situation, writing: “Today we dealt with an extremely serious incident resulting in a lockdown procedure. The incident involved two students, with one believed to be seriously injured. All other students are contained and safe."
Pender emphasized: “The police and paramedics are present in school. We will release all students once permitted by the police. I understand your anxiety during this uncertain time and will share updates as soon as possible. We ask for your prayers and support.”
This incident comes just five days after the school was placed on lockdown due to threats of violence between two students on January 29.
Shock and concern have spread on social media, with one user stating: "So sad when children aren’t even safe at school. Hope the boy recovers quickly."
Another commented: "What’s this world coming to? You fear for your kids every time they walk out the door. It's time to put scanners in schools to combat knife crime."
