Robbery at Co-op Food in West Didsbury - Manchester News

A robbery occurred this afternoon at the Co-op Food on Burton Road in West Didsbury, south Manchester, around 1pm on Friday, 13 December 2024. A man was detained and a knife was recovered at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) responded swiftly to the robbery reports and arrived to find at least seven police vehicles in the area. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic.

A spokesperson for GMP confirmed that a suspect was arrested nearby and remains in custody for questioning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

The shop was cordoned off for several hours following the robbery and is currently closed. A sign in the window states: "Sorry for the inconvenience. The shop is closed until further notice. Thanks."

The GMP representative added, "Officers responded quickly and detained a man nearby in connection to the incident. A scene remains in place while enquiries continue."
