A man was taken to hospital after being 'attacked with an axe' following a fight in Radcliffe.
Police responded to reports of two men fighting outside a property on Coronation Road at approximately 8.40am, coinciding with parents dropping their children off at nearby Radcliffe Primary School.
During the altercation, one man sustained cuts to his leg and arm. He was transported to the hospital, but authorities confirmed that his injuries are not "life-threatening or life-changing".
An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted that he was walking home from the shop when he encountered another man who appeared to be bleeding.
"He had blood on his arm," he stated. "He dropped his trousers and showed me a gash on his leg."
The injured man reportedly said, "I've been attacked with an axe" and requested assistance in calling the police or an ambulance.
Shortly thereafter, multiple police cars arrived at the scene. Witnesses noted that officers cordoned off a cul-de-sac opposite the school, and forensic teams were later seen working in the area.
"There were at least five police cars," remarked one neighbour. "They remained here until lunchtime."
"They cordoned everything off. I have lived here nearly 60 years and I've never seen anything like it. I live on my own so it's a bit worrying when you see all that going on."
A man in his 30s has since been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault and remains in custody for questioning.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated: "At around 8.40am this morning (Thursday 17 October 2024), we were called to reports of two men fighting outside an address on Coronation Road in Radcliffe, Bury."
