In a recent incident at HMP Oakwood, video footage surfaced showing a prisoner from Oldham allegedly snorting something from a cell table. The clip, shared on Instagram, depicts the inmate kneeling over the table, laughing as he imitates sniffing an unknown substance.
The man, dressed in a blue t-shirt, was later seen standing up and continuing to laugh. This short video was posted to the Instagram profile of another inmate, believed to be from Manchester, with the caption "Had a sh** day," accompanied by laughing emojis. The footage is thought to have been shared in December of last year.
Reportedly filmed inside a prison cell, both men involved are now under investigation following the incident. A spokesperson for HMP Oakwood confirmed that illicit contraband is strictly prohibited, and anyone caught could face additional prison time.
HMP Oakwood, located in Featherstone, Staffordshire, is a Category C facility operated by G4S, with a capacity to house up to 1,605 inmates.
The spokesperson reiterated, “Illicit contraband is not tolerated in prison and those found with them may face extra time in custody.”
