According to the Manchester Evening News, a prisoner has managed to flee from Salford Royal Hospital. This escape occurred following the individual's treatment at the facility.
The prisoner, who had been incarcerated at Forest Bank, took advantage of his hospital visit on Monday, October 7, to make his escape. Local residents reported being informed by the police that the individual was last seen wearing a grey top and still had handcuffs on.
The person in question was under police escort during the hospital visit, as confirmed by prison authorities. Following the escape, a significant search operation ensued, covering areas from Salford to Sale.
The Category B men's prison at Forest Bank, located in Pendlebury, Salford, is overseen by Sodexo Justice Services. Police have been actively investigating, knocking on doors near the hospital.
Several police vehicles were seen along Wilton Road near the hospital, with officers engaging with community members. They were inquiring about any doorbell camera or CCTV footage that might assist the investigation.
Residents observed police helicopters crisscrossing the skies, particularly around De La Salle playing fields, as officers conducted thorough searches in the vicinity, including Lancaster Road and Wilton Road.
A video shared with the Manchester Evening News shows officers engaged in activities near Sale Water Park, reportedly linked to the escapee.
Law enforcement vehicles were also situated near Rifle Road, some six miles from Salford Royal Hospital, and residents of the Ellesmere Park locality noticed helicopters operational.
As of now, Greater Manchester Police have not provided further details about the escaped prisoner's identity or crimes. HMP Forest Bank has acknowledged the incident and is collaborating with the police.
