The parents, Mark Twigg and Joanne Bedford, appeared in Manchester Magistrates' Court on July 31. They confirmed their names and addresses but did not enter any pleas. The case has been adjourned to be heard at Manchester Crown Square on September 4.

Following Daniel's untimely death, his family expressed their sorrow, describing him as a 'happy, kind and caring little boy' who was loved by everyone. He enjoyed Paw Patrol and playing with his siblings, and had a special love for animals, including his pony, Splash.
