In a shocking turn of events, influencer and reality show star Olga Bednarska, 27, was apprehended at Manchester Airport on October 20, after arriving on a flight from Thailand with 39.4 kilograms of cannabis, valued at £157,600. She had initially claimed she was asked by a friend, known as ‘Tex’, to bring back designer clothes and watches.
Upon her arrival from Phuket, customs officials became suspicious of Bednarska's travel arrangements. She admitted to packing her own suitcases, but a thorough search revealed the concealed cannabis hidden beneath her clothing.
Bednarska, who previously appeared in Netflix’s Too Hot to Handle, pleaded guilty to the fraudulent evasion of a prohibition on importing a class B drug and was subsequently handed a suspended sentence.
During the court proceedings, prosecutor Samuel Eskdale outlined the events leading to her arrest, stating that Bednarska could not provide a code to unlock her suitcases when requested by the Border Force officials.
The court heard that she had no prior convictions and had been in custody since her arrest. The judge noted Bednarska's financial struggles, which contributed to her decision to participate in the illicit activity, as she had accrued debts up to £16,000.
Judge Potter commented on her situation, stating, “You decided to place your trust in someone you hardly knew,” and emphasized the harm that drugs sold for profit can inflict upon communities.
Upon sentencing, Bednarska received a 20-month prison term, which was suspended for two years, in addition to 15 days of rehabilitation activity requirements. The judge expressed hope that she would rectify her path, noting the impact of her actions.
Originally from Poland, Bednarska has made a name for herself in the UK, gaining recognition from her reality TV appearance.
