Netflix has announced that Harlan Coben's Missing You will premiere earlier than expected, to the delight of fans. This series follows the successful adaptations of Coben's works, including Safe in 2018 and Fool Me Once earlier this year. Production on the series, based on Coben's 2014 bestseller, began promptly after the January 2024 announcement.
Originally scheduled for release in 2025, Missing You will now be available starting Wednesday, January 1, 2025. The series stars Rosalind Eleazar, known for her role in Slow Horses, as detective Kat Donovan, who becomes involved in a complex Missing Persons case.
The official synopsis reveals that eleven years prior, Kat's fiancé, Josh, disappeared without a trace and she has not heard from him since. Now, while browsing profiles on a dating app, she unexpectedly sees his face again, reigniting emotional turmoil.
The narrative promises that Kat will be compelled to revisit her father's murder and uncover long-buried secrets.
This release pattern is similar to Fool Me Once, which also premiered on January 1, establishing a tradition of welcoming the new year with a Coben mystery.
The cast of Missing You features several notable actors, including Ashley Walters, Richard Armitage, Sir Lenny Henry, Steve Pemberton, Jessica Plummer, Mary Malone, Lisa Faulkner, and James Nesbitt.
Produced by Quay Street Productions, Coben serves as an executive producer for the series.
Director Nimer Rashed, who helmed Fool Me Once, returns to direct episodes alongside Isher Sahota, recognized for Ridley and Grace. The screenplay is written by Victoria Asare-Archer, who previously contributed to the Coben thriller Stay Close.
This miniseries will consist of five hour-long episodes and is expected to be another big success for Netflix, following the popularity of previous thriller adaptations.
With Missing You being released a year after Fool Me Once, it is predicted to attract a similarly large audience. The latter series became the most-watched series in the first half of 2024, achieving an impressive total of 108 million views.
Missing You will be released on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, on Netflix.
