Matthew Isles: Surgeon Pleads Guilty to Child Communication Charges

Matthew Isles, a 52-year-old surgeon from Cheadle, Staffordshire, is awaiting sentencing after admitting to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. Isles previously worked as an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) consultant at Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital in Stafford.

On Tuesday, 11th February, Isles pleaded guilty at North Staffordshire Justice Centre following his arrest on Monday, 10th February. He is currently on conditional bail and is set to appear at Stafford Crown Court at a date yet to be determined.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police confirmed the charges against Isles and stated, "Matthew Isles has pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. Following an investigation by our public protection unit, he was arrested on Monday and charged the next day."

The Royal Stoke hospital is assisting with the investigation. A spokesperson from the hospital stated, "We are continuing to fully cooperate with the police in their investigation. Patient and staff safety remains our top priority, and we encourage anyone with concerns about their care to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)."
