On Sunday night, February 16, 2025, a serious incident took place at Manchester Victoria station where a man in his 20s was discovered with stab injuries.
Police and paramedics responded to emergency calls at approximately 7pm. The injured man was found with critical stab wounds and was quickly transported to the hospital where he currently remains under care.
It is believed that the attack occurred at a different location before reaching the tram platform. Consequently, the Manchester-bound platform at Monsall tram stop was suspended, along with parts of the Manchester Victoria stop, impacting train lines to Rochdale and Manchester Airport.
Greater Manchester Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are appealing for witnesses to step forward. They specifically seek anyone who noticed anything unusual at either Manchester Victoria or Monsall tram stops during the Sunday evening timeframe.
Reports indicate that at least six police vehicles responded to the scene, with an air ambulance paramedic vehicle also present. CID officers were seen on the platform, and a white screen was erected for further investigation.
A spokesperson for the police stated, "At around 7pm on Sunday 16 February, officers were called to reports that a man was located in Victoria Station with serious injuries. The spokesperson added, "No arrests have been made at this time, although officers are conducting CCTV searches and speaking with several witnesses. We believe this to be an isolated incident with no threat to the wider community."
