On Thursday, January 23, police conducted a series of raids across south Manchester, leading to the arrest of four men and one woman in the Hulme area.
The operation was carried out by officers from the Tactical Aid Unit and Regional Crime Unit as part of an investigation into the supply of class A and B drugs throughout Greater Manchester.
The suspects, aged between 22 and 37, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in drug supply and have since been remanded in custody.
During the raids, authorities seized a significant quantity of drugs, items related to drug supply, and a loaded firearm.
Detective Constable Helen Rutter of GMP's South Manchester Challenger Team stated, “Today’s warrants and arrests are part of an ongoing investigation related to the distribution and supply of class A and B drugs in and around the South Manchester area."
She emphasized the importance of protecting communities from such criminal activities and encouraged the public to communicate any concerns about crime through various channels, including LiveChat, local neighbourhood officers, or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
“Every bit of information, no matter how small, contributes to our investigations across Greater Manchester and could aid in addressing crime at its roots,” she added.
For any concerns about crime, the public is encouraged to speak directly with officers, report through 101, or contact via LiveChat on gmp.police.uk. In an emergency, always call 999.
