Man Jailed for Harassing Pregnant Ex from Prison

Jordan Burton, 22, persistently harassed his pregnant ex-girlfriend from prison, making over 100 calls to persuade her to withdraw her statement against him. Despite being incarcerated, Burton threatened revenge if she did not comply, according to Manchester Crown Court.

The abuse started even before he was jailed. Burton violently attacked her multiple times, including throwing a hoover at her repeatedly and striking her with a piece of wood.

The couple originally met in June 2019, moving to Manchester in 2020. However, problems escalated when Burton accused her of infidelity, leading to violent outbursts.

The relationship deteriorated further, and it concluded violently on March 10 at a service station in Cheshire, where police intervened. After moving back to County Durham, she provided a statement detailing Burton's abuse and threats.

Despite promises to change, Burton's communications were abusive, threatening her and wishing harm upon their unborn child. His harassment continued from prison, convincing her to retract her statement by intimidation and manipulation.

Eventually, Burton faced justice, receiving a sentence of three years and one month. The court condemned his actions, noting the vulnerability of his ex-girlfriend during her pregnancy.
