Knife Crime Incident: 14-Year-Old Boy Stabbed in Assault

Detectives have condemned the 'senseless' stabbing of a 14-year-old boy during a zombie knife attack, which left him critically injured.

A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced for attempted murder after using a zombie knife to stab the victim in the stomach. The incident has led authorities to urge the public to 'speak out' if they suspect someone they care about may be carrying a knife.

A paramedic with 15 years of experience remarked that the injury was one of the most graphic and shocking he had ever encountered. The stabbing occurred amid a long-standing dispute between the defendant and a friend of the victim, which began over a romantic rivalry.

The attack took place at a home in south Manchester where the defendant arrived and subsequently stabbed the 14-year-old shortly after answering the door. This violent action was executed with 'significant force.'

Prosecutors revealed in Manchester Crown Court that the victim 'could have died' without quick medical intervention. The court learned that the defendant had previously been found in possession of a similar zombie knife just a month prior, with the judge noting the defendant's 'obsession' with such weapons.

Now 15, the attacker was sentenced to 12 years for attempted murder and possessing a bladed article. During sentencing, Judge Hilary Manley stated: "It was a truly terrifying and horrifying incident. You have nearly taken the life of another young person for absolutely no reason at all. A trivial argument escalated to a point where you felt the need to prove something."

After the hearing, Detective Constable James Carter from GMP's North Manchester district commented: “The victim is extremely fortunate to have survived this brutal attack, albeit with injuries he will endure for life. This senseless act highlights the devastating impact of knife crime."

“Carrying a knife can lead to injury, death, and imprisonment – there are no positive outcomes. If you or someone you know is carrying a knife, I urge you to seek help before it's too late.”

In a statement, GMP remarked: "We can all play a part in addressing knife crime. Here’s what you can do:

- Report incidents to police or anonymously to Crimestoppers.

- Stay vigilant and communicate with your children.

- Call 999 if you have concerns for your safety or that of others."
