Police are actively searching for a knife attacker responsible for stabbing a man who later sought refuge at Victoria station. This incident occurred on Sunday evening, February 16, 2025.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was discovered with serious stab wounds on the Metrolink platform at Victoria. Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that the assault took place at the junction of Pitsford Road and Swanley Avenue in Monsall, north Manchester.

After being attacked, it is believed the victim travelled by tram on the Oldham and Rochdale line towards the city centre, disembarking at Victoria station. The whereabouts of the attacker post-incident remain unknown.

As of now, no arrests have been made related to the stabbing. Metrolink services on the Oldham and Rochdale line are operating as usual, with Victoria and Monsall stations open for service.

The victim's injuries were reported to be serious on the night of the attack. Emergency services, including several police cars and an air ambulance, were present at the scene outside Victoria station, where a white screen was set up for privacy during the investigation.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated that officers were alerted around 7pm. Upon arrival, they confirmed that the victim had sustained stab wounds and was transported to the hospital.

The spokesperson added, "No arrests have been made at this time, but officers are reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses. We believe this incident to be isolated and do not perceive any ongoing threat to the community."
