Jack Fincham Sentenced: Love Island Star Faces Prison for Dog Attack

Jack Fincham, a celebrity from Love Island, has been sentenced to six weeks in prison following an incident where his black cane corso dog, Elvis, attacked a runner. The 32-year-old, who won the 2018 series of the ITV2 show alongside Dani Dyer, was seen giving a thumbs up while being escorted to the cells at Southend Magistrates' Court, as a woman in the public gallery was visibly upset.

Fincham pleaded guilty to two charges related to having a dangerously out-of-control dog, one of which resulted in injury. During the proceedings, Prosecutor Erin Peck revealed that the attack occurred in September 2022 in Swanley, Kent, when his dog bit a runner named Robert Sudell.

Mr. Sudell accepted an apology from Fincham, who initially was to receive a caution and partake in a responsible dog ownership course. Conditions were imposed requiring that Elvis be muzzled. However, in June of the previous year, there was a second incident in Grays, Essex, leading to further charges against Fincham.

During sentencing, presiding magistrate Anne Wade noted that Fincham was under a suspended sentence order at the time of the Swanley incident, linked to an unrelated driving offence. This order involved a 12-week custodial sentence suspended for 18 months.

Ms. Wade stated that the suspended sentence would be partially activated, declaring, "We find no reason not to do so," and ultimately sentenced Fincham to six weeks in prison. She highlighted that the dog was in a public area and not following the conditions of being muzzled and leashed.

Fincham, residing in Swanley, Kent, was ordered to pay a total of £3,680, which included £2,000 for kennelling costs, a £961 fine, and £720 in compensation to Mr. Sudell. Fincham's representative, Richard Cooper, mentioned that Fincham does not have any savings.

Ms. Wade permitted Fincham to pay the sum in £400 monthly installments. Furthermore, an order was issued that requires Elvis to be muzzled and leashed in public and prohibits him from being left alone with individuals under the age of 16.
