A mother, Katarzyna Glowacka, has expressed her fear for her family's safety after their home in Huyton became a frequent target for local youths.
Over the past two weeks, the family has experienced a series of disturbing incidents including rocks being thrown and fireworks launched at their property. Katarzyna believes these attacks are racially motivated, saying, "We think they are doing this because we are Polish."
Katarzyna detailed the abuse: "This has happened almost every day for two weeks. It's a group of kids. They started kicking our door and destroyed our car - I have a dent on my car."
She recounted a particularly frightening incident, saying, "One of the boys threw me on the ground when I returned from work and they threatened my son with a knife. There are about 20 kids sometimes, aged between eight and 17."
Despite calling the police regularly, Katarzyna feels helpless, stating, "I am scared. I fear for my life." CCTV footage shows youths approaching their home and throwing objects, which further highlights the severity of the situation.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that they are investigating these incidents as hate crimes. A spokesperson noted that they have received reports of anti-social behaviour, criminal damage, and threats against the family.
Local Policing Inspector Jen Murray stated, "We are taking these reports very seriously as no one should be subjected to such abhorrent behaviour. These incidents by a small minority of youths are totally unacceptable." She urged parents to monitor their children's whereabouts to prevent further incidents.
Inspector Murray continued, "We appeal to anyone who witnessed any of the incidents between 5pm and 7pm on October 31 and November 1 on Endmoor Road, or has information that could assist in our investigation, to please contact us." Information can be relayed to Merseyside Police by calling 101, citing reference 24000929439, or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
