An elderly man in his 70s was left injured after being hit by his own car during a robbery outside his home in Stevenson Drive, Oldham.
This incident occurred at approximately 5:25 PM on Saturday, December 14, 2024. The victim was returning to his house from his car when he was ambushed by a suspect who had been hiding in the bushes.
During the confrontation, the suspect tackled the elderly man to the ground and stole his car keys. As the suspect fled in the car, he struck the victim, leaving him injured in the middle of the road. The abandoned car was discovered shortly thereafter.
The victim was transported to the hospital, where he remains; however, police confirmed that his injuries are neither life-threatening nor life-changing. No arrests have been made so far.
Greater Manchester Police has issued a public appeal for information and any footage related to the robbery. Detective Inspector Andrew Day stated, “This is a frightening and disturbing incident where an elderly gentleman was subjected to a pre-meditated attack.”
He emphasized the importance of tracing those responsible and requested that anyone with information, including CCTV or mobile footage, get in touch with the police.
