Daniel Tunney: Prolific Sex Offender Arrested in Crewe

Cheshire police have captured footage of the arrest of prolific sex offender Daniel Tunney, who was found with over 90,000 indecent images of child sexual abuse in his home.

The arrest took place in Crewe, Cheshire, where Tunney, 42, was apprehended after officers forcibly entered his residence as part of an investigation initiated in September last year. The investigation began upon receiving intelligence regarding Tunney's engagement with indecent images of children online.

During the execution of the warrant, police seized three unregistered digital devices: a mobile phone, a hard drive, and a memory card.

Following a thorough digital forensic analysis, authorities uncovered a staggering number of images and videos depicting child abuse, including at least 603 category A images, 240 category A videos, 735 category B images, 40 category B videos, 46,045 category C images, and 13 category C videos. Additionally, Tunney possessed 104 images and 36 videos of extreme pornography, while 72,659 images and videos remained uncategorised.

During interrogation, Tunney responded 'no comment' to all inquiries, but due to the overwhelming evidence, he was charged with multiple offenses.

On January 3, Tunney pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children and violating his Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO). He was subsequently sentenced to ten years in prison at Chester Crown Court.

Detective Sergeant Nathanael Johnston remarked on the case, stating, “Tunney is a prolific sex offender who posed a significant risk to children." He urged the public to remain vigilant against signs of child exploitation.
