A trial is unfolding at Manchester Crown Court, where Brandon White, 21, alongside Ryan White, 29, and Damian White, 33, stands accused of murdering 37-year-old Warren Burns. The defendants, who are related, have denied the charge.
The alleged incident occurred on May 21 at Burns' home on Heysham Avenue, Withington. The prosecution claims the victim was violently attacked, involving kicking, stamping, and punching.
Brandon White testified that the visit to Burns' house was intended to resolve a dispute, not to incite violence. He recounted being informed by his mother of a conflict at Platt Fields Park, which involved threats against their family.
On the day in question, Brandon received a call that prompted him and his relatives to meet at Burns' residence. White claims no violence was intended, describing the encounter as a 'madness' that escalated quickly. He testified trying to intervene only when the altercation endangered his uncle.
According to Brandon, Ryan White, who allegedly joined later, inflicted final blows that rendered Burns unconscious. The defense maintains Ryan was not present, citing his testimony of being engaged elsewhere.
In a panic post-incident, Brandon says he went to a friend's house before being arrested. During cross-examination, he denied any role in causing Burns' death, insisting his actions were in defense of his uncle.
The case continues as all parties deny the charges against them, including assisting an offender accusations against Casey-Jay McDonagh Andrews.
