Clare Burns, a 51-year-old mother, was discovered dead at a flat on Queens Road, Collyhurst in the early hours of Monday, April 7. This unfortunate event has sparked a murder investigation.

Her family has been notified and is being supported by the Greater Manchester Police.

In a heartfelt tribute, her family described Clare as a loving mother, auntie, sister, and daughter, highlighting her humorous, outgoing, and independent nature. They expressed their grief, stating that she would "light up the room" and was a "brilliant friend" to many.

“We will miss her dearly,” they added.

On April 8, forensic investigators were seen gathering evidence from the scene, conducting door-to-door enquiries in the neighborhood.

Tributes, including a bunch of flowers and a teddy bear, were left by Ms. Burns' loved ones. One note poignantly read: "Rest in peace mum, we will miss you," and another note stated: "Rest in peace my darling daughter. Love you forever and always, love mum xxxxx."

Other tributes from community members described Ms. Burns as "my friend always" and "our kid."

A 55-year-old man, Leonard Lee Stewart, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with murder. He remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear at Manchester City Magistrates' Court on April 9.

Due to prior contact between the victim and the suspect, Greater Manchester Police's Professional Standards Directorate has voluntarily referred the case to the Independent Office of Police Conduct for assessment.
