On Christmas Day, a murder investigation was initiated following the tragic death of a beloved father, Kirk Marsden, aged 37. He was struck by a Toyota Land Cruiser outside The Gate Street Bar and Grill in Blackburn, Lancashire.

Kirk sustained severe injuries and sadly passed away in the hospital during the early hours of Boxing Day, December 26. The incident occurred after police responded to reports of a disturbance outside the pub located at the corner of Moorgate Street.

Authorities have since arrested two men, aged 58 and 31, on suspicion of murder, and they remain in police custody for questioning.

In a heartfelt tribute, Kirk's family expressed their grief: "To our hero, spread your wings far and wide. Your partner Leanne and your babies love you millions. You really were like no other, goodnight. Kirk, you were a well-loved son, brother, and uncle who will be sorely missed. Rest with your dad now in heaven."

Detective Chief Inspector Bryony Midgley stated: "This incident has led to a man losing his life, and our thoughts are with Kirk's loved ones. The investigation team is making progress and has recovered the Toyota Land Cruiser from a car park on Brindle Street."

"We know that following the collision, the Land Cruiser turned right onto Livesey Branch Road. I urge anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage covering the area between Livesey Branch Road and Brindle Street from 4:48 PM to 5:00 PM on Christmas Day to check their recordings for the vehicle and contact my team."

"This is being treated as an isolated incident, and we are aware there was an altercation at The Gate prior to the fatal incident. I encourage any witnesses we haven't yet spoken to, or anyone with mobile phone footage, to get in touch with my team."

"I understand that this news will raise concerns within the community. We are increasing reassurance patrols in the area."
