On Friday at 8:30 AM, officers from the Bolton division of Greater Manchester Police conducted a dawn raid on a cannabis farm, following a tip-off.
The raid took place at Blackshaw House off Thornbank North, near Heaton Cemetery in Bolton, where over 220 cannabis plants were discovered.
A man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis, abstracting electricity, and illegally entering the UK. His age has not been disclosed.
As of Friday afternoon, the suspect remained in custody for questioning. A GMP spokesperson reported that the plants would undergo analysis and an electrical supply issue was resolved.
Inspector Keiron Maddocks from GMP's Bolton South Neighbourhood Policing Team appealed to the public for assistance in locating cannabis grows, stating, "We take any information or intelligence submitted by the public seriously."
He urged the community to report any concerns related to drug activity, encouraging contact with GMP on 101 or through their website, as well as utilizing Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
Recent statistics indicate that GMP seized over 700 cannabis plants last month, valued at an estimated £500,000, executing nine warrants that led to the discovery of six cannabis farms across Greater Manchester.
