Bolton Murder Case: The Trial Continues

The brother of a murder victim revealed to jurors that he attempted to disarm the killer by kicking him during a confrontation. This unfolded after the death of 25-year-old Tyrone Williamson in Bolton, where Anthony George was accused of stabbing him multiple times.

Following the murder, George was found and violently attacked by six men, allegedly led by Nathan Carney-Williamson who sought to confront his brother's killer. This occurred less than two hours after Tyrone's death.

Nathan Carney-Williamson, along with Brendan Carney, Roy Meanley, and Thomas Lynch, pleaded not guilty to charges of grievous bodily harm with intent, while two others admitted guilt.

During court proceedings at Manchester Crown Court, Nathan admitted his actions on the night of the murder were driven by the desire to see George imprisoned. He stated his intent was to disarm George and not to inflict harm, explaining that he kicked to disarm a perceived threat during the chaotic event on Battenburg Road.

Footage shown in court depicted the emotionally charged scene where Nathan was seeking access to the police cordon to see his brother. In a police interview, he expressed confusion over the situation, claiming his actions were an emotional response to seeing his brother in distress.

George was identified by Nathan as the man rumored to have killed his brother, a fact that fueled the confrontation where Nathan questioned George, prompting George to allegedly produce a knife.

The trial has brought to the forefront the actions and intentions of those involved in the pursuit of justice for Tyrone, with Nathan and the others maintaining their innocence of intent to cause harm.

As the trial progresses, the courtroom remains the setting for piecing together the events that led to George's assault and Nathan's defense of his brother's honor.
