Attempted Murder Charge of Nurse at Royal Oldham Hospital

A man, Roman Haque, aged 37, has been charged with attempting to murder a nurse at the Royal Oldham Hospital.

The incident is alleged to have occurred around 11.30pm on Saturday night, January 11, when Haque reportedly stabbed Achamma Cherian, the staff member in her fifties.

Haque, from Yasmin Gardens in Oldham, is facing charges of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article, specifically a pair of scissors. He appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court this morning.

During the court appearance, Haque was dressed in a grey tracksuit and only confirmed his name, date of birth, and address. His representation was provided by Greg Kemp, and he was not required to enter a plea.

After a brief hearing with District Judge Jane Hamilton, the case was forwarded to Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court. Haque has been remanded in custody and is set to appear in court again on February 18.
