Amman Valley School Incident - Details of Attack

On April 24, last year, a 14-year-old schoolgirl attacked two teachers and a fellow pupil at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, also known as Amman Valley School, located in Ammanford, south-west Wales. The defendant, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, has admitted to the attacks but denies attempted murder.

During the trial at Swansea Crown Court on January 29, jurors heard testimonies from students present on the day of the incident. One pupil recounted overhearing the defendant saying she was going to do "something stupid" that involved Mrs. Elias, one of the teachers. She stated, "I just thought she was going to slap Mrs Elias."

Other witnesses reported that the defendant had shown a knife to students in the lower school hall and mentioned thoughts of stabbing someone. A witness noted, “I didn’t think she was going to do anything... We just went on to other conversations."

A male student added that he had heard the defendant say, “I’m going to get put away for a long time,” before she revealed a knife, stating, “I’m going to do something which includes a knife.”

Following Mrs. Elias' entry into the hall, the boy noted a significant change in the defendant’s demeanor. He later heard that she had attacked Mrs. Elias outside the lower school hall.

The jury was also informed of a prior incident on the school bus about a month before the attack, when the defendant was slapped multiple times by the injured girl, though she did not retaliate. The trial continues.
