Alleged Fraudster Doctor Denies Forgery in UK Court

Zholia Alemi, a woman facing multiple accusations of fraud and forgery, has denied the charges of forging a medical degree to practice as a doctor. The matter is being deliberated at Manchester Crown Court, where Ms. Alemi stands accused of deceiving the General Medical Council by submitting a fraudulent degree certificate and verification letter in 1995.

Prosecutors claim that over two decades, Ms. Alemi illegally earned between £1 million and £1.3 million from the NHS while serving as a psychiatrist in various health trusts across the UK, including Manchester.

During her trial, Ms. Alemi stated that she graduated from the University of Auckland in New Zealand in 1992, disputing allegations of failing her exams and being barred from completing her medical course. She added that she previously graduated with a degree in biology from the University of Tehran in 1987.

Despite her claims, official records revealed by the prosecution suggest inconsistencies, such as failing to complete her medical degree courses. Additionally, they highlighted past convictions from 2018 for forging a will and signature fraud.

Ms. Alemi, residing on Plumbe Street, Burnley, continues to assert her innocence against the fraud, forgery, and deception charges.
